Hartley Ostini Hitching Post Cork Dancer 2013
Gray Hartley, a fisherman, and Frank Ostini, a chef, have been making wine sine 1979. From humble beginnings to high tech, they continue to make traditional wines of balance and finesse that emphasize deep fruit, spice, and earthiness. Known for “Soulful Pinots, Year In, Year Out” from maritime cooled vineyards near the coast of central CA, today they also craft other reds with Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from warmer inland sites. “Cork Dancer” refers to the Alaskan Salmon that jump out of the sea to get by the fishing net cork line of former ship captain Gray Hartley. This bottling is a blend of five vineyards that are located in three cool coastal valleys just north of Santa Barbara. With long and moderate growing seasons, these sites are well suited for growing Pinot Noir.
